Free Initial Telephone Consultation
discuss your concerns
During the initial telephone consultation we will discuss your concerns or query in more detail to decide whether your child would benefit from our speech and language therapy services. This call usually lasts around 10-15 minutes.
Initial Assessment
detailed case history and tailored assessment
Initial assessment sessions will typically last around 60 to 90 minutes, which will include a detailed case history and assessment tailored to your child’s needs. This may include observation through play / conversation.
The initial assessment is inclusive of a brief summary report with the therapist’s findings and recommendations for your child’s speech, language and communication needs. A formal or more detailed report can be requested at an additional fee.
The initial assessment can be delivered through our online telehealth service, or in your home or child’s educational setting in Ripon, North Yorkshire
Intervention
therapy sessions and parent coaching
Therapy Sessions
Following the initial assessment session the Speech and Language Therapist may recommend your child would benefit from intervention or strategies to support their speech, language and communication needs. We provide evidence based Intervention approaches, which are tailored to your child’s specific needs. Therapy sessions can be offered in blocks or individual sessions and typically last around 30-40 minutes.
We provide fun, engaging activities in order for your child to work on their targets. Follow up activities will also be provided to continue your child’s progress between sessions. Therapy sessions can be delivered through our online telehealth service, or in your home or child’s educational setting in Ripon, North Yorkshire
Reviews
monitoring progress
At Word Play we offer review sessions in order to monitor your child’s progress e.g. following a therapy block and to update their targets. Review sessions typically last between 45-60 minutes and can be delivered via our online telehealth service or in your home or child’s setting in Ripon, North Yorkshire
